A place you have to visit when you are in Monterey County / California is Canepa Motorsports, operating from a small city called Scotts Valley. There, right on the main highway, you will find a real gem for fans of Classic and Collector cars.Porsche enthusiasts might know the name Canepa for their perfectly restored cars from the Stuttgart power house, but Canepa is also into american muscle cars and classic sports cars from any other brand. Located about an hour north of Laguna Seca Raceway, you can easily combine these two jewels of motorsport on your next trip to california. Canepa is a big name not only in historic motorsport. Their business is, « to offer investment grade Classic and Collector Cars For Sale and Historic Racing Car Sales and Restoration ». You won`t find a museum in the common sense there, as its a private operation and they do not charge you for admission, but what you will get to see bears every comparison.. The showrooms are housed in the same building complex where the restoration and motorsport teams work their wonders, You can just walk in at ground floor and have a look at the precious road cars that are for sale.Porsches, Ferraris et al. in mint condition - you can easily spend an hour there before you head upstairs to see the more motorracing related jewels. On the upper floor you`ll experience the real heart beaters: take the small steps up and you will see some truly unique examples from motorsport history. There is enough space for about 20 cars and each of them is worth a closer look – their condition is immaculate. The cars on display might change from time to time, as Bruce Canepa is a welcome guest at historic events all over the planet, but what you will see is more than you might have expected. On my visit in 2015, there were on display amongst others: (see gallery)  - one of only 5 surviving Tyrrell six-wheelers. It is in 1977 configuration with wide bodywork and First National City color scheme. - a Porsche 917/10 turbo in the famous red and yellow Georg Loos livery - a Porsche 917 Kurzheck in the famous Gulf colors - various Porsche 935`s, NASCARS, SportsCars… Canepa also offers a guided shop walk once a week, where you can take „a walk through our amazing, state-of-the-art restoration shop and motorsports facility“ and if you happen to be there on certain Saturday mornings, there might be a chance to join the ever popular « Canepa Cars and Coffee » meeting, when gear heads from the area bring their treasures on four wheels to Scotts Valley and have a chat with likemindeds.
